ICTA, the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology is a research institute at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. ICTA aims to promote interdisciplinary research and training in environmental science and technology and counts with about 20 full time in-house senior researchers and several associated professors from other UAB departments such as economics and geography. ICTA is one of the world´s leading centres in Ecological Economics, and it was in Barcelona that the International Society for Ecological Economics was founded in a conference hosted by Joan Martinez-Alier.
Their role in Entitle:
ICTA coordinates the ENTITLE project and has the responsibility for the overall development and direction of the network´s curriculum and research activities. ICTA is responsible for organizing one intensive course on research design and methods, and one on communicating research to the public. The ICTA mentor team has expertise on the study of environmental conflict and environmental justice. As part of Entitle, ICTA´s Marie Curie fellows study extractivism in Bolivia, the anti-mining movement in Rosia Montana in Romania, back-to-the-landers in post-crisis Mediterranean Europe, and the making of coastal and forest commons.
